Nigerian association UK expresses concern over kidnap of school children
The Nigerian Association Tyne & Wear (NATW), United Kingdom (UK), expresses concern over the recent kidnapping of school children in Nigeria.
The Association disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday through its President Dr Ikechukwu Okorie.
Okorie described abduction of children from educational institutions as a tragic and unacceptable violation of their fundamental human rights, and attack on the future of the country.
According to him, the association is committed to the welfare, development, and progress of Nigerians, both at home and abroad.
He added that the association also supported initiatives that promote peace, security, education, and the well-being of all Nigerians.
The association’s leader called for the immediate and safe release of the abducted children.

Okorie said, “We are deeply saddened by the trauma, fear, and uncertainty being experienced by the affected children, their families, and their communities.
“Schools should be safe places for learning, growth, and development, not locations where children are exposed to violence and insecurity.
“We call upon the Federal Government of Nigeria, security agencies, and all relevant authorities to intensify efforts to secure the immediate and unconditional release of all abducted children.”
The association’s president also urged government to strengthen security measures around educational institutions across the country, to prevent future occurrences.
According to him, the protection of children must remain a national priority, hence, decisive action is needed to restore public confidence in the safety of schools.
“We stand in solidarity with the affected families during this difficult period.
”We also join well-meaning Nigerians, civil society organisations, and the international community in demanding justice and enhanced protection for all Nigerian children,” he said.
