In line with Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration commitment to expanding road infrastructure and enhancing connectivity across Yobe State, the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mohammed Goje, has inspected the ongoing estimated about (90% completed) Phase One section of the DamaturuโMagza Road project which covers Damaturu to Katarko.

The strategic road project, which is facilitated by the Yobe State Government being funded by the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), is designed to improve security, transportation, stimulate economic activities, and ease the movement of people and agricultural produce along the corridor.
During the inspection tour, the acting SSG assessed the completed Phase One of the road which starts from Damaturu to Katarko expressing satisfaction with the quality and speed of the work.
The Acting SSG commended the North-East Development Commission for its sustained partnership with the Yobe State Government and for executing the project in line with the administration’s developmental priorities. He also applauded Greyland Construction Company for the quality and timely execution of the project, urging the firm to maintain the same level of professionalism and commitment in other ongoing projects across the state.
“Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration remains committed to delivering impactful infrastructure that directly benefits the people. This road is a clear indication of the commitment and the productive collaboration between the state government and development partners,” Dr. Goje stated.
Speaking during the visit, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North-East Development Commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali, represented by the Yobe State Coordinator of the Commission, Prof. Ali Ibrahim Abbas, has assured the Commission’s objective to supporting developmental initiatives in Yobe State and the wider North-East region.
He disclosed that the Commission is working closely with the state government in several sectors aimed at accelerating development and improving the welfare of citizens. Prof. Abbas further charged the contractors to ensure strict compliance with approved designs and engineering specifications as preparations commence for Phase Two of the project, which will extend from Katarko to Magza.

The SSG was accompanied by the Commissioner for Transport and Energy, the Executive Chairman of the Rural Electrification Commission, representatives of the Ministry of Works, and a team of engineers, among other government officials.
