Abuse survivor rescued by Dr Soludo set for university education
The wife of the Anambra Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, says Master Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka, a teenager survivor rescued from severe abuse in July 2022, is set to begin university education.
Soludo spoke with journalists on Wednesday, reflecting on the progress of the teenager rescued from alleged abuse by his uncle and wife through her intervention.
She said that since his rescue, Chimkamnayo had remained under her care, receiving medical treatment, educational support, guidance, and opportunities to rebuild his life.
According to her, the teenager’s story has evolved from one of pain and neglect to a powerful testimony of healing, resilience, and transformation.
“Four years ago, precisely in July 2022, Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka’s story broke the hearts of many Anambra people.
”He was rescued from a life of severe abuse and neglect by his uncle and the uncle’s wife, arriving with wounds that went far beyond the physical.

“At the time, many saw a hurting child. Today, we see a resilient young man standing on the threshold of a brighter future.
“What once seemed like a story defined by pain has become a powerful testimony of healing, hope, and transformation.
”Today, he is preparing to enter the university, and I am delighted to reaffirm my commitment to supporting his education to whatever level he chooses,” she said.
Soludo said Chimkamnayo’s experience demonstrated that difficult circumstances and abuse did not have to determine the future of any child.
She said that with love, protection, encouragement, and the right support system, children could recover from trauma, regain confidence, and pursue their aspirations.
The governor’s wife also revealed that the teenager had expressed a desire to reunite with his parents, assuring that his wish would be granted.
She said that while prioritising his welfare and safety to reconnect with his family, he would continue to receive care and support from the state government.
“His journey reminds us that when society refuses to give up on a child, that child can rise above adversity and become a symbol of hope,” she said.
