Abiola urges unity after APC primary victory

Mr Gbenga Abiola, APC candidate for Agege Constituency I, has urged supporters to remain humble following his emergence from the party’s primary election.

In a statement on Sunday, Abiola urges unity and appealed to party members to avoid insulting, mocking or attacking fellow aspirants and their supporters.

Addressing supporters in Agege, he said the primary contest had ended and attention should shift to strengthening the party ahead of the election.

According to him, politics should never become a source of hatred or division among people pursuing a common goal.

“We must remember that we are all members of the same APC family. There is no need for insults, mockery or unnecessary provocation,” he said.

Abiola urged supporters across Agege to refrain from inflammatory comments on social media and at public gatherings.

He said genuine leadership was reflected through maturity, discipline and respect for others, irrespective of political differences.

The APC candidate noted that all aspirants who participated in the primary election made sacrifices and contributed to the party’s growth.

He called on stakeholders, leaders and supporters to unite behind the APC’s collective goals and electoral ambitions.

Abiola said future electoral success would depend largely on members’ unity, cooperation and commitment.

“The time for contest is over and the time for collaboration has begun. Let us work together for the progress of Agege, our party and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Let us move forward as one family. Together, we will achieve greater victories for our party and our people,” he said.

NAN reports that the APC recently declared Abiola, a former Vice-Chairman of Agege Local Government, its candidate for Agege Constituency I.

His emergence followed the May 20 House of Assembly primary election and ended weeks of disputes within the constituency.

The declaration settled agitations that arose after rival aspirant Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi was earlier announced winner by some party interests.
