APC Constitution Review: Buni Vows Inclusivity and Collaboration with Founding Fathers
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, recently appointed chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) constitution review committee, has pledged to work closely with party stakeholders, including founding members, to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee, formed at the recent APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, consists of seven members representing each of the six geopolitical zones and aims to update the party’s constitution and accommodate more members within the NEC.
Buni emphasized the importance of consulting with the party’s founding fathers, recognizing their wisdom and expertise in drafting the original constitution. He also highlighted the need for inclusivity, particularly for women and youth, stating that the party’s growth requires accommodating diverse voices and interests.
“We shall be in consultation with the founding fathers of the party. Those who drafted the constitution… It takes wisdom to produce a party constitution,” Buni said. He also emphasized the importance of accommodating diverse voices within the party, stating, “We want to include people. We want to have a document that will strengthen the party and prepare it for the 2027 election.”

The governor stressed that the review process is an ongoing endeavor, essential for the party’s continued growth and success. He reiterated that strengthening the party is not a static process but a continuous evolution.
“We cannot be static and expect to be delivering, you keep improving and that’s what we are trying to do,” he said.
Buni’s commitment to collaborating with founding members and prioritizing inclusivity suggests a focused approach to strengthening the APC and ensuring its continued relevance within the political landscape.
