Bauchi State Governor Presents N213 Billion 2021 Budget.

The Bauchi state government has budgeted the sum of N213, 914, 559, 427:00 for its services in the 2021 fiscal year, the Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed announced.

Presenting the budget estimates to the State House of Assembly in Bauchi on Tuesday, the Governor gave a capital of N120, 717, 251, 458.00, 56% of the budget size.

Senator Bala Mohammed also gave a recurrent expenditure of N93, 197, 307, 969.00 representing 44% of the total budget.

He said that the capital expenditure of N120, 717, 251, 458 comprised of economic sector N64, 372, 948, 761; social sector N34, 455, 877, 668; regional sector N12, 430, 224, 392; administrative sector N7, 207, 000, 637; and Law and Justice sector N2, 251, 200, 000.

Governor Bala Mohammed also disclosed that Bauchi will realize capital receipts in the sum of N105, 117, 468, 313 in the areas of opening balance, internal loans, external loans, aids and grants and other capital receipts.

According to him, the government in preparing the 2021 budget takes into consideration a recurrent to capital expenditure ratio of between 44% (recurrent) ; 56% (capital).

The government is also to reduce to the barest minimum the number of ghost workers through effective payroll management to generate more funds in order to pave way for new employment.

It will also comply with NGF budget guidelines that may be given from time to time, as well as execute capital expenditure both COVID-19 related and those considered critical by the government.

“This year’s budget is higher because it was prepared in such a way that projects and programmes captured will be implemented. We have focused our attention on projects that are strategic for the development of the State,” He said.

Responding after receiving the budget document, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman commended the Governor for the modest achievements he recorded within 20 months of his stewardship.

Speaker Abubakar Suleiman assured the Governor of speedy deliberations so that its implementation would commence in earnest.
