Democracy Day: CP urges Nigerians to uphold principles of democratic governance, peace
The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mamman Giwa, has urged Nigerians to continue to uphold the principles of democratic governance, including peace, tolerance and civic responsibility.
In his Democracy Day message delivered in Enugu, the commissioner congratulated Nigerians, particularly residents of Enugu State, on the celebration of the 2026 Democracy Day.
He stated that despite the challenges experienced over the years, the achievements of democratic governance have remained substantial and enduring, on Democracy Day CP urges citizens to continue supporting democratic values and peaceful coexistence.
The state police boss urged citizens to work collectively to deepen the dividends of democracy for a safer, more peaceful, and prosperous Enugu State and Nigeria.

He reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to democratic policing and the strengthening of security across the state.
The commissioner noted that proactive policing strategies, intelligence-led operations, and sustained community engagement had been further enhanced to ensure peace, public safety and effective crime prevention in the state.
He said, “I wish residents of Enugu State and all Nigerians a peaceful and memorable 2026 Democracy Day Celebration.
“I urge citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and security conscious; and timely report suspicious persons and activities to the nearest police station or other security agencies.”
