FEDERAL LAWMAKER LAUNCHES AGRIC EMPOWERMENT PROJECT IN ZAMFARA, TARGETS 10,000 BENEFICIARIES

 A member, House of Reps, Alhaji Shehu Ahmad Sarkinfulani representing Maru/Bungudu Federal Constituency in Zamfara State launched agricultural empowerment project targeting 10,000 beneficiaries in the state.

The beneficiaries are to be trained in various agro skills through the lawmakers’ funded NGO “Fulbe Care Initiatives (FCI).

Speaking during the event, Sarkinfulani said the NGO is also partnering with KHH Best Engineering Company Limited and Nigeria Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI) Ilorin, Kwara State fort the beneficiaries to be trained in batches.

“We are starting with over 500 beneficiaries after which every one of them would be supported with cash and empowerment tools today after the training.

“This is part of my constituency project aimed at making unemployed youths and women to be self reliant.

“This is also part of fulfillment of my campaign promises of giving priority to employment generation through youth and women empowerment.”

According to the lawmaker, the beneficiaries comprised males and female farmers selected from all political wards in Bungudu and Maru local government areas.

“We are providing cash and empowerment tools to the beneficieries aimed at boosting boost farming activities in the state,’’ Sarkinfulani said.

Sarkinfulani called on the beneficieries to ensure judicious utilization of both the training and support given to them.

In their separate remarks, the representatives of KHH Best Engineering Company Limited and Nigeria Stored Research Institute Ilorin, Mr Shiitu Manhood and Muhammad Usman commended the lawmaker for initiating the project.

They said their respective organizations would continue partnering with the lawmaker for the development of his constituency, Zamfara and Nigeria in general.

Also speaking, the Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture office in Gusau, Alhaji Musa Raji described the project as a welcome development.

Raji noted that the project is in line with various policies and programmes of the federal government to revive agricultural sector to diversify the nation’s economy.

After the training each beneficiary received cash, bags of fertilizer and sprayers.

Some of the beneficiaries, Muhammad Umar and Aisha Usman thanked the lawmaker for initiating the project and selecting them to be part of the beneficiaries.

“On behalf of all the beneficiaries of this project, we appreciate the gesture,we are going to utilise the opportunity given to us in a right direction”, Umar assured.
