FUBK VC urges graduands of nursing science to learn from colleagues, be good ambassadors

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Prof. Muhammad Zaiyan-umar, has charged the graduands of Bachelor of Nursing Science to be good ambassadors of the institution.

Zaiyan-,Umar gave the charge induction and oath taking of the graduands from College of Science of the institution in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

He said,” You should be good ambassadors of the university, your parents and your various communities.

“You need to be diligent, compassionate as you begins the Course of interacting with patients for healing and souls saving.

” You cannot do this without the prerequisite of nursing science, including the highly good character and deposition required of you to serve your community, to serve your state and to serve your country at large.” 

Zaiyan-Umar said that the university would open alumni office to reach out to all graduands of the university.

“I committed myself to the establishment of alumni university that will reach out to you and get feed back of your performance from your different callings in Nigeria and beyond,” he said. 

The VC congratulated the lecturers of the Nursing Department, parents and  produced the 2nd graduands of the Nursing Science of the university.

Earlier, the Pioneer Head of the Department of Nursing Science in the university, Dr Ahmed Sa’idu, said that the department was funded in 2014 with the goal of educating competent,confident and multifaceted nursing students would satisfy the personnel needs of the diversify health care context. 

“The second batch of students who were being inducted today have also successfully passed their Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) programme and professional nursing examination with 100 per cent. 

According to him, 24 graduands have been inducted, and have taken their oath into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMWCN). 

In his remarks, the Secretary General/Register, NMWCN, Alhaji Faruk Umar, reminded that the induction marked the beginning of their professional career as Nurses and a lot was being expected from everyone of them as polyvalent graduates nurses.

“You should perform nursing skills in a variety of health care settings, therapeutically assisting individuals, families and communities with diverse background resolve health problems.

” I encourage you to be willing to learn from your colleagues already working in the clinical areas,” he urged. 

Umar, represented by the Head of Department Registration of NMWCN, Alhaji Aliyu Adamu, also enjoined them to accept corrections, improve and make adjustment positively where necessary. 

“I admonish to adhere to the Ethics of the profession in your practice at all times, display humility and honesty,” he warned.
