Gov. Ishaku’s lost a bad omen for PDP in Taraba, APC

Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo

The All Progressives Congress APC in Taraba State has described the abysmal performance of the state governor Darius Ishaku in last Saturday’s election where he lost his senatorial bid to a first time contestant Mr David Jim Kuta as a bad omen and a foretaste of what awaits the party in the state ahead of March 11 governorship and State Assembly election.

The state publicity secretary of the party Mr Aaron Artimas disclosed this on Friday in a phone conversation with our Correspondent.

Artimas said that the people of Taraba have shown clearly that they are tired of the PDP administration and are ready for a positive change by voting out the incumbent Governor who was seeking to secure the Senate seat for his zone.

He insisted that the poor outing of the governor was a clear case of protest from the people who feel that the governor has performed very poor and bringing on board another PDP candidate who has declared his decision to follow in the footsteps of Ishaku will be disastrous for the people.

“We are all aware that the governor could not even win his own local government area as a seating governor. The people have spoken clearly and this is a reflection of what we expect next week when we go in for the Governorship election.

“The PDP had the opportunity and have taken it for granted. They have undermined the people, the electorates and chosen to fail them, thinking themselves invincible. Now is the payback time.

“Governor Ishaku has made history as the first seating governor in the state to lost election so badly. Infact, he did not only lost to the opposition in the other local government areas in the zone but lost in his own local government area as well. I think the people have spoken and have taken their stands”.

Artimas described as funny the rumours that the candidate of the APC Senator Emmanuel Bwacha was not in the race and maintained that the efforts of the opposition in collaboration with some party members without conscience have failed to remove Bwacha from the ballot.

“I find it funny that the PDP and their cronies are very busy telling the people that our party has no candidate for the Governorship election in Taraba. Their claims show just their level of desperation. Bwacha emerged as a candidate at a primary monitored by the state REC of INEC personally and other top security agencies in the state. So how will they not recognize him as the validly elected candidate of the party?

“I understand the desperation of the PDP to ensure that our candidate is not on the ballot paper but unfortunately for them, they have failed terribly. In turn, the people of the state have spoken and have taken a stance with the APC. This is not about Bwacha or the APC. This is about Taraba State. This is about restoring the lost glory of Taraba. This is about repositioning the state for development. This is about the people, irrespective of religion, ethnicity and region. This is project Taraba and it must come to pass” Aaron insists.
