Security Threat: Sokoto Police Launch Operation “”Kule Cas'”

The Sokoto State Police Command Thursday launched Operation “KULE CAS” as part of their proactive measures towards nipping in the bud any security threat, before, during and after the March 11 governorship and State Assembly elections in the State.  

Addressing newsmen on the new development, the State Police Commissioner (CP) Mohammed Gumel said the Operation which translates to mean, “Eyeball To Eyeball Crackdown”, will amongst others deal with trouble makers in the state before, during and after the elections. 

According to the CP, “”Anybody going about bearing weapon of any kind will be arrested, their sponsors be found and punish accordingly””. 

CP Gumel further warned that, “”from today, the window of negotiation have bee closed. No more negotiation or bail of any suspect in relation to  thuggery. And anybody who comes for such a person should be arrested for sabourtage””. 

In his charge to the members of the Operation which comprises of the Nigerian Army, Air-force, Immigration, NSCDC, NDLEA, and the Police, CP Gumel said, “Whosoever carries weapon is challenging you, therefore try to subdue such a person and bring him or her to justice”.

Continuing, he said their interest is protection and suatinance of peace in the states and Nigeria at large. 

On those carrying weapons in the name of hunters, Gumel assured that they will be on their trail and arrest them to come and answer their offences. 

He therefore warned that

non conventional forces have no place in the electioneering process, hence, “vigilantes groups have no right to move out of their local government area of jurisdiction. As any attempt to go beyond your area of jurisdiction will be considered a crime”. 

The CP further assured law abiding citizens to always report suspicious elements within their communities, adding they are always ready to provide security not minding whose ox is gored.
