INEC Moves Sensitive Materials To LGAs Ahead Of Saturday Election In Sokoto

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has moved sensitive materials to all the INEC offices in the 23 local government areas of Sokoto state ahead Saturday presidential and national assembly elections.

The sorting out of the electoral materials at Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) premise was done in the presence of security agencies, party representatives and , election observers and Journalists.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, in the state Dr Nura Ali  while handing out the materials, said the electoral officers would take the items to their councils where they would be sent to the polling units on Saturday morning.

He added that the move is to ensure efficient dispatch of the items to the polling units on Saturday without delay.

Ali explained that all electoral materials suppose to reach Registration Area Centre (RAC) on Friday for onward distribution to polling units on Saturday.

He noted that the commissioner of police in the state Muhammad Usaini Gumel and the head of other security agencies have assured them that they will guide the materials till it is been shared to the polling units.

On the BVAS he said the commission has enough to cover 3991 polling units in the state stressing that election would not hold in 8 polling units where there are no voters register.

“Initially we have 3991 polling units in Sokoto state but out of these, elections will not hold in 8 polling units where there are no voters register he said 

He maintained that out the BVAS deployed to the state 6 are faulty but were since been replaced saying they have some backup Incase of eventuality.
