A gruesome incident unfolded in Nekede, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, where an unidentified man reportedly attacked his wife amidst suspicions of her infidelity.
The unsettling incident surfaced following the circulation of a viral video capturing the man wielding a knife while assaulting his spouse. According to emerging accounts, a concerned neighbor alerted the husband on April 10th, revealing suspicions of his wife’s extramarital affair transpiring within their shared residence.
Reacting swiftly to the tip-off, the husband rushed home, only to confront the distressing scene of his wife purportedly in the company of her lover within their marital confines. Shockingly, their innocent 6-year-old daughter was reportedly left unattended in the living quarters during the tumultuous encounter.
Enraged by the perceived betrayal, the husband purportedly unleashed a violent assault on his wife, inflicting severe injuries with the weapon at his disposal. Remarkably, the alleged paramour was purportedly permitted to depart the scene unscathed amidst the chaotic turmoil.
In response to the harrowing incident, the Imo State Police Command issued a statement on Friday, urging members of the public, especially those residing in Nekede, to step forward with any pertinent information.
Henry Okoye, spokesperson for the police command, emphasized the imperative need for collaboration in uncovering the truth, stating, “The Imo State Police Command is aware of the video circulating on social media and wishes to state that the alleged incident has not been officially reported to the Police.
However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a thorough investigation into this disturbing incident and ascertain the facts.”
Okoye further implored, “We urge the public, particularly residents of Nekede, to report any information they may have about the incident to the nearest Police Station or via 08148024155. Let us work together to ensure justice prevails in this case.”
