Methodist Church offers free sugar, blood pressure test to 60 persons in Enugu
No fewer than 60 people benefited from free blood pressure and sugar level test organized by the Youth-Men Fellowship (YMF) arm of Methodist Church in Ologo, Enugu.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that Ologo is located at Uwani in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The President of YMF, Wesley Cathedral, Mr Johnson Ikechukwu, said the Church decided to conduct free medical outreach as vehicle for evangelism.
According to him, the tests include blood sugar level, blood pressure, hepatitis and prostate.
He said the outreach was to create awareness for the Church and serve as means of evangelism.

He added that “every year, we organise a conference and youth week but this year, we decided to do something different.
“Professionals conducted the free tests, examinations and dispensed drugs to patients.
“Our targeted beneficiaries are Ologo residents, and so far, more than 60 people have been tested and given drugs free of charge.
“We are not only interested in our members in Ologo but other interested patients because in evangelism, the lost sheep is more important.
“Methodist Church started from school to hospital and it is a heritage we have to sustain,” Ikechukwu said.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Comfort Obi, said she never believed when she saw the banner for the free medical outreach but it became reality when she tested and was given free drugs.
“This is the kind of work we need in our society as many of us do not have money to go for routine checks.
“They said my sugar is about 400 and something but I know with this medicine they gave to me, it will come down.
“My God will bless and reward Methodist Church and organisers for their good works,” she prayed.
Another beneficiary, Mr Chinedu Onovo, also commended the organisers for the faith and sued for its sustenance.
Onovo said “I initially thought I will not be attended to because I am not a member of the Methodist Church.
“But I am surprised I was not discriminated against,” he said.
