Mind Restructuring: Conscience, The Judgment Of Posterity And History.

Conscience is not a native of any country. It is not white, black, yellow, nor brown. Conscience is human. It is a living entity that is beyond sectarianism and it is domiciled in the soul. Our conscience should begin to prick us, because of the verdict of history, verdict of posterity and the judgment of God Almighty that may be very harsh on all of us if we fail to act now.

Without conscience we are not a living soul, but just a passing shadow. Conscience is an open wound only the truth can heal it. Conscience is nurtured by truth and the truth is sacrosanct, constant and consistent. Evil reigns in the land when good men refused to stand up and speak up. This is no longer a time to play safe or sit on the fence. It is a time similar to the days of the Israelites in the land of Egypt.

In the annals of history, the powers of grace and that of the people was championed by the movement that was coordinated by the clergy. Our most revered revolutionary clergy Martin Luther king Jr and the roses revolution in Philippine that sent Ferdinand Marcos parking. History is about to repeat itself.

Ferdinand Marcos placed the Philippines under martial law on the 23rd day of September 1972, shortly before the end of his second term. Martial law was ratified in 1973, through a very fraudulent and questionable referendum similar to the shenanigans of our law makers in the recent past. Marcos then fled with his family members to Hawaii. He was subsequently succeeded as president by the widow of Aguino-Carozon.

The street of the beautiful country and the good people of the Philippine was filled with courageous Filipino civilians, as well as several political and military groups, along with Catholic Bishops led by Cardinal Ricardo Vidal, the good people of Philippine defeated despotic mindset and the tyranny of a few misguided elements.

The event in the recent past days and months in our beloved country Nigeria is similar to the evils of the past in Philippine. I watched the whole drama as it was unfolding yesterday. My mind raced towards the memory lane, it was a day reminiscence of the dark era. I was seriously burdened sensing the ominous danger ahead. Some of us have lived with the pains of the Olusegun Obasanjo’s era, which was a very sad period, we fought despotism together with the present head of state Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari RTD, we fought and survived the inglorious past.

Despotic Autocratism is gaining ground by the day, despotic mindset is a recipe for disaster in a democracy. What I witnessed yesterday was a clear indication of full-blown authoritarian government. From the hording of citizens to the Omoyele Sowore saga. It was a shame of a nation.

In the whole confusion I remember the Chatham house declaration and the covenant Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari RTD took before God Almighty in the presence of the whole world in London 2015, shortly before the general election. He said: “…so before you is a former military “dictator” ruler and a “born again” converted democrat who is ready to operate under democratic norms and subject himself to rigours of democratic election for the fourth time.”

The whole shenanigans and the event of yesterday’s rascality is a clear departure from the covenant he made standing before God Almighty in the presence of the world. He is definitely not a born again converted democrat, he is a born-before. He has turned full circle back to his real self.

Thankfully, our admirable clergymen like Hassan Matthew Kukah, Babatunde Bakare, Paul Adefarasin and many more have sent a clear signal–“NIGERIA FOR NIGERIANS MOVEMENT.”
