NEDC supported Yobe govt with water project, equipment others.

The northeast development commission (NEDC) has supported Yobe state government with submersible pumps and accessories for emergency borehole repairs and maintenance.
Speaking while handing over the water project and equipment, the state coordinator of the commission, Professor Ali Ibrahim Abbas said the project is part of efforts to complement government initiatives towards the expansion of Buni Gari water supply to cover Buni Yadi and environs.

Professor Ali Abbas said the project is part of the two hundred and twenty-two projects carried out under the leadership of Muhammad Goni Alkali across the state to support Governor Buni’s post-conflict recovery programme.
He restated the commission’s readiness to support government’s efforts in the execution of people-oriented policies and programmes to improve the living standards of the citizens.
The state coordinator outlined that the water projects includes installation of an integrated solar system with a hybrid inverter, construction of a two thousand litre capacity surface tank, ten thousand litre capacity overhead tank, pipeline reticulation, pumps, cables, perimeter fencing and other facilities.
According to the state coordinator, following request from the people of Buni Yadi the NEDC executed a six-point zero-one reticulation of the pipeline to cover the town and its surrounding communities.

Receiving the project on behalf of the Yobe state government, the general manager of the state water corporation, Baba Habu and the representative of rural water supply and sanitation, Mai Sule Abubakar said the impactful project would bring an end to the problem of water scarcity in Buni Yadi and surrounding communities.
They used the medium and commended the northeast development commission for the intervention adding that the state water corporation would take full ownership of the projects for proper maintenance and utilisation.
It could be recalled that on 2nd June 2025 Governor Mai Mala Buni, alongside the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari, and the management of NEDC, handed over development projects, including water and sanitation facilities, road construction, and human capital development projects among others.
