Prioritise NYSC members’ wellbeing, Wike urges stakeholders
Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers has advised government functionaries, traditional rulers, security agencies and well meaning Nigerians to prioritise corps members’ wellbeing.
Wike gave the advice during a swearing-in ceremony of 2023 Corps Batch A, Stream 1, Corps members at Nonwa-Gbam Tai on Friday in Port Harcourt.
Wike, represented by Mr George Nweke, the Permanent Secretary, Special Service Bureau, office of the Secretary to State Government, described corps members as the most enlightened, virile and vibrant members of society.
He said the corps members were placed at vantage position to make Nigeria better for all citizens.
The governor reassured of the commitment of his administration to improve the physical infrastructure needs of the scheme as well support its programmes and activities.
In his address, Mr George Mfongang, Rivers NYSC Coordinator, commended the corps members for their discipline and understanding of the objectives of the scheme.
Mfongang urged them to take full advantage of the orientation to harness their innate potentials and unique abilities to make positive impacts in the lives of all Nigerians.

He advised corps members to take seriously all camp programmes and activities, especially skill acquisition training programmes and the security and language lectures.
The Oath of Allegiance was administered by Justice Simeon Amadi, the Chief Judge of Rivers, represented by Justice Crescent Dapaa-Addo.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that 1,615 corps members were sworn in during the ceremony.
