Protesters attack BUA truck along Zaria-Kano Expressway, looting spaghetti
A group of protesters attacked a BUA truck transporting cartons of spaghetti at the Dogarawa axis of the Zaria-Kano expressway.
Dogarawa, situated on the outskirts of Zaria along the expressway, became the unexpected location of this troubling incident.
This incident unfolds just a week after similar protests led to the hijacking of food-laden trailers in the Suleja area of Niger State, where bags of rice and other essential food items were looted amidst prevailing hardships in the country.
According to an eyewitness, the attack took place on a Friday around 3.15 pm when the truck driver stopped by the roadside to pray.
Seizing the opportunity, the protesters swiftly began looting cartons of spaghetti from the truck. The eyewitness lamented that in the more than 10 years he has been trading in the area, such a brazen act had never occurred before.
The source noted that not a single carton of spaghetti was spared by the culprits. Following the incident, a police team dispatched to the scene managed to apprehend five suspects in connection to the attack.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by drivers and transporters amidst the current climate of unrest and economic strain in the nation.
