SOSG Trains 1150 Volunteers For At Risk Children Project

No fewer than 1150 volunteers will be trained under the At -Risk Children Project (AR-CP ) in Sokoto State .The programme is geared towards the impacting the lives of out of school children.

The programmes  will also help tackle the menace of out of school children in the state , the programme is expected to help government win war against societal challenges. 

Briefing newsmen the secretary of the scheme in the state Prof Yakubu Aliyu Gobir said the 1150 volunteers were inducted for the first batch.

He noted that after training the volunteers will go back to their council wards to train others on skills learned.

He explained that 50 volunteers were selected from each 23 local governments of the state.

According to him the volunteers are expected to be hardworking , diligent and committed towards obtaining knowledge that would in turn impact positively on lives of poor vulnerable .

He further disclosed that the project is part of federal government in collaboration with state government investment programme.

He stated that the state government have adopted Umaru Ali Shinkafi polytechnics , Sokoto as a training center with the plan to accommodate the 1150 volunteers for training.

On his part the special assistant to the President on At Risk Children Project  (AR-CP ) Dr Adebayo Dotum said the volunteers  would be trained on information communication technology (ICTs) , Agriculture, Entrepreneurial , Financial literacy, Digital and mental skills, Child right and Mentorship.

He explained that the programmes would reduce social vices among teenagers.

He stated that Buhari led government is poise toward empowering all category of people in the country irrespective of tribal and religious inclination.
