The United Nations Children’s Education Find( UNICEF) has on Wednesday partnered witht the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Bauchi chapter has build the capacity of women to accelerate more enrollement of Bauchi women into acquiring basic education.
The one day activity was inline with the International Women’s Day Celebration held in Bauchi with theme Invest in Women.
Speaking,the NAWOJ,Chairperson,Mrs Rasheeda Yusuf said that women play vital roles in national building.
She said that establishing informal learning centers to sour the edu action needs of women should be priotise by all stakehokders.
Yusuf advocated for grassroot reporting on women related issues to promote sucess stories and identify outstanding women in various communities.
“I am calling on journalist to report grassroot activities to amplify sucess stories and promote women.
” Education is vital and women should take any given opportunity to a quite knowledge; this will for sure bring development and fulfil our yarning for 35per cent affirmative action,” she said.
In his contrition onbehalf of UNICEF communication partners,said that journalists would develop news content that would identify issues for policy makers to take action.
He applauded the leadership of NAWOJ in Bauchi for championing activities to commit women to go back to school.
During the programme ,the various facilities herpson essential and socio economic impact of obtain basic education among women folks.
Mrs Lydia Shehu, Director General, Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs),Bauchi office emphasied on leveraging on opportunities provide by Government and partners to achieve the aim of attending second chance classes.
