University lecturer stripped naked by students in Kogi State over alleged sexual misconduct
A senior lecturer at the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) in Kogi state was stripped near naked by a group of female students on Friday, May 10, over allegations of forceful sexual advancement towards a female student.
The lecturer, whose name has not been released, was said to have incurred the wrath of the students, who claimed that he had a history of sexual misconduct.
The students alleged that the lecturer had been “protected” by his colleagues, including the Head of Department, and that he had a list of female students to either “pass or fail” based on their level of intimacy or absence with him.
The university’s spokesperson, Daniel Iyke, confirmed that the management was aware of the incident and had set up an investigation committee to look into the matter.
The report of the committee will be made public once it is completed.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of sexual misconduct in Nigerian universities and the need for greater accountability and action to protect students from abuse.
