Voluntary withdrawal of APC in Zamfara State re-run by-Election -PDP

195
PRESS STATEMENT.

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Zamfara has received with little or no surprise the voluntary withdrawal of the All Progressives Congress APC from tomorrow’s re-run by-election of the Bakura state house of assembly.

Fortunately however and in expression of good sportsmanship in politics, the APC did not accuse the law abiding PDP in all its allegations but raised some the same vital issues identified by the PDP at the outcome of the inconclusive December 5, by-election among which were intimidation of voters, ballot box snatching and the use of security to perpetuate and perfect riggings in the election which led to the declaration by INEC that the exercise was inconclusive.

Since it is the exclusive reserve of the APC to participate or refuse to participate in the election, we at the PDP will join other participating political parties in wishing the APC well and as the party with the ruling government, assure the APC, all political parties and the good and law abiding people of Zamfara that we will continue to provide level playing grounds to all political parties and well meaning politicians while at the same time, bring dividends of democracy to all nooks and cranies of the state under the examplary leadership of our amiable governor Bello Mohammed MON, Matawallen Maradun.

We still want to re-echo our earlier calls especially on the security agents to ensure the protections of the people’s lives and property, before, during and after the election and not to allow miscreants distort it because, it is one thing to back out from an election in fear of near certain defeat and another to leave the thugs that were used in the first leg of the election to come more venomous since they have nothing to lose.

Signed

Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani

Chairman
