WORLD BANK: FG’s DELEGATION VISIT ZAMFARA OVER CARES PROGRAMME
The Federal Government’s delegation has on Tuesday visited Zamfars state for the implementation of National COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) a World Bank intervention programme.
The delegation led by Prof. Funsho Aderebigbe was in the state for the conduct of readiness assessment and advisory visits on NG-CARES programme.
The World Bank to disburse $750 million NG-CARES in Nigeria to impact positively on the lives of vulnerable Nigerians who were hit by the pandemic.
Under the arrangement, each state will receive the sum of $20 million over a period of two years while the FCT will get $15 million and the Federal Care Support gets $15 million with effect from June 30, 2021.

Speaking during the delegation’s visit to Fadama Cares office in Zamfara state, the Leader of the delegation Prof. Aderebigbe said the programme was designed to increase cash transfer and livelihood and support for vulnerable households, increase food security and
“The programmes is to support the state to mitigate the impact of Covid-19 on Small and Medium Enterprises, (SMEs) development, farming activities as well as empowering vulnerable groups in order to uplift their standards of living”,
“I am happy with what I saw in Zamfara today, Zamfara is far ahead to many statas in the country as for readiness for the implementation of the programme”, he said.
In his remark, the Programme’s Coordinator Fadama Cares Office, Zamfara state, Alhaji Samai’la Abubakar expressed readiness of the office for the implementation of the programme.
“As you are all aware, Zamfara Fadama Coordination office is entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the result area 2 of the Nigerian CARES programme.
“The result Area 2 is aimed at increasing food security and safe functioning of food supply chains for poor households. It has the following four disbursement linked indicators.
“Agricultural inputs and service, labour intensive agricultural infrastructure, agricultural assests for production and mitigationof food loss and waste as well as upgrading wet-markets to function safely.
“Having successfully implemented series of projects, Fadama project has become a household name in Nigeria, Zamfara state inclusive, we are therefore all set prepared to implement the result area 2 of the Nigeria Cares Programme”, the Coordinator added.
According to him, the Zamfara Fadama CARES coordination office has staff and technical strength to implement Cares programme.
The delegation team also visited state Ministries of Finance, Commerce and Industry and State Agency for Community and Social Development Project (CSDP).
