Yola FMC trains medical practitioners on effective service delivery

The Federal Medical Centre (FMC),Yola, in collaboration with the Servicom Department in the facility have trained no fewer than 371 medical practitioners to ensure efficient service delivery.

The medical doctors, nurses and other auxiliary staff were oriented at a three-day workshop organised by the centre on Tuesday in Yola.

Prof. Lawal Abubakar, the Chief Medical Director of FMC, declared open the workshop aimed at providing effective service delivery to the public.

Abubakar, represented by Dr Ahmadu Usman, FMC’s Head of Clinical Services, said that SERVICOM was introduced into the hospital in 2006.

“Since the introduction of SERVICOM in the centre in 2006, tremendous achievement has been recorded for effective and efficient service delivery.

”As a result of SERVICOM, the management of the centre instituted a merit award as a critical component of her strategic intervention toward measuring staff performances.

“The development has rapidly changed and improved the attitude and productivity of staff as well as created ability to identify excellent and performance for reward,” Abubakar said.

In her remarks, Dr Maisaratu Bakari, Consultant Gynaecologist and Nodal Officer, SERVICOM, said that the workshop was aimed at sensitising locum and intern officers.

According to Bakari, the sensitisation is organised to impact knowledge on medical practitioners to understand public service rules.

”It is also for them to understand the  ethics according to the various professional bodies and departments,” she said.

The consultant said that participants at the workshop include 104 medical doctors, 145 nurses and personnel from auxiliary units comprising Pharmacists, Radiographers and Laboratory Scientists.

She urged the participants to give attention to the training to acquire more knowledge that would give them overview of service efficiency, rules and regulations of public service engagement.

Also, in her address, Dr Lami Aminu, Provost, School of Nursing and Midwifery, called for regular capacity building to ensure effective service delivery.
