Border Closure Adepoju Visits Illela Border Seeks Synergy Among Sister Security Agencies

The Acting Controller General of Nigeria Immigration Service ( NIS) , Mrs Caroline Adepoju on Wednesday visited Illela border , Sokoto state on assessment tour.
Addressing journalists during the visit Adepoju said she came to the border to see the level of compliance with presidential directive.
She explained that following the recent happening in the neighbouring Niger Republic, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has directed them to close Nigeria border with Niger Republic.
While addressing different security agencies at the border , the immigration boss called for synergy between Nigeria Immigration Service and other sister security agencies.
She also sought the support of the traditional leaders and border communities stressing that the pain of border closure is momentary.
She maintained that what Mr President did was at the best interest of Nigerians , saying the political turmoil in Niger Republic may post security danger to Nigeria if not checked.
“We know the action will affect regional trade between Nigeria and Niger Republic, but we have to bear it for now since business cannot thrive in chaotic environment she stated.
She urged her men to be vigilant and diligent while discharging their duties saying the compliance should be total.
Adepoju also visited the officers that were attacked by bandits while on duty at Illela border at Usman DanFodio University Teaching hospital , Sokoto.
Speaking at the hospital she prayed for their quick recovery stressing that the bandits have already lost the battle.

“Let me tell you we will take the battle to the bandits ‘s door steps, they touch Nigeria Immigration Service and they will not go free she added.
She also visited the families of two officers that were killed during the attacked .
She implored the deceased families to take solace in God saying the officers death would not be in vain .
She further disclosed that Nigeria Immigration Service would hasten the payment of insurance benefits to the deceased families.
She later paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Sokoto state Dr Ahmed Aliyu and Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 111.
