FG endorses IA-Foundation’s campaign to end out-of-school crisis

The Federal Government has endorsed the ongoing campaign of the British charity, IA-Foundation, to tackle Nigeria’s out-of-school crisis.

The government gave the endorsement when an Inspection Officer in the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs Morenikeji Akinrinlola, visited the Lagos office of IA-Foundation on Friday.

IA-Foundation, which is based in the UK has a Nigerian, Mrs Ibironke Adeagbo as its founder and chief executive officer.

Akinrinlola lauded the foundation for its relentless campaign to reduce the number of out-of-school children in the country to the barest minimum.

She said that government was always happy with organisations working hard to propagate the set goals of the Federal Government.

IA-Foundation, which is active in South-Western Nigeria, has embarked on a relentless campaign to bring the out-of-school crisis in Nigeria to global attention.

A recent report released by UNICEF has put the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation at about 20.2 million – the highest in the continent.

Akinrinlola also expressed happiness with IA-Foundation for ensuring a non-discriminatory policy in giving education opportunities to children in the West African country.

She assured the foundation that government would continue to be partners in progress with the foundation in ensuring that every Nigerian child had access to quality education.

The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that various factors, including insecurity have forced many Nigerian kids out of classrooms.

The development has worsened the woes of a nation contending with a bloody insurgency and banditry for more than a decade.

The Boko Haram group has been waging a relentless campaign in northern Nigeria since 2009 in a bid to introduce a strict Islamic code.

But the Nigerian Government has risen to the challenge, fighting back decisively in a high intensity war that has taken tolls on lives and resources over the years.
