… Rescue kidnap victims in Edo State
Troops from the Nigerian Army (NA) deployed to combat insurgency in North West Nigeria achieved a significant victory on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, as they successfully defended Damba Dikko village in Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The village had come under attack by marauding insurgents attempting to extort levies from the villagers.
In response to a distress call, the vigilant troops swiftly descended on the village and engaged the insurgents in a fierce gun battle. They managed to neutralize two insurgents and rescue two villagers who were being held hostage. The rescued individuals, who sustained minor injuries, received prompt medical attention from NA paramedics.
On the same day, Nigerian Army troops carried out a daring rescue operation, freeing four kidnap victims who had been abducted by a notorious gang of kidnappers in Edo State. The kidnappers had forcibly taken their captives, which included one woman and three men, into the Ososo forest in Akoko Edo Local Government Area. The gallant troops tracked down the criminals, engaged them in a firefight, and successfully extricated the abductees. One of the kidnappers was apprehended and is currently undergoing preliminary investigation before being handed over to the appropriate prosecuting agency.
One of the rescued victims, who suffered from shock and fatigue, was evacuated to a medical facility for treatment, while the others have been reunited with their families.
