Search For A New Nigeria (28): Divine Restoration And The Promised Land

By Richard Odusanya

For the Israelites, the journey to the promised land was characterized by so many challenges, part of which is the issues of stiff-necked individuals, indiscipline and lack of confidence in leadership leading to disobedience. A journey of about eleven days turned into a forty years journey wandering around in the wilderness.

God’s original plan for Israel was to take possession of their promised land in days not decades. It took Israel forty years to be ready. The Israelites remained in the wilderness for forty years just wandering around. The laws of geometry teach us that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Although the Israelites who ultimately, arrived the promised land with Joshua were generally faithful and obedient.

Flowing from the above, and the experience of the good people of the Republic of Ghana; a couple of decades ago, Ghanaian’s economy was in total shambles and its citizens were all totally messed up. It took divine intervention, revolution and the determination of the people to turn things around. Today, despite the global challenges and some level of imperfection; the situation is completely different from what it used to be about four decades ago. Thanks to a man who spearheaded the revolution, our wakanda hero, a visionary leader, John Jerry Rawlings of the blessed memory.

Nigeria as a nation, the largest population of black globally, a sleeping giant and a nation destined for greatness. We can reinvent ourselves; we can do it again like it happened in Ghana; we can take back our nation and arrive at destination, the promised land in record time. Just like the Israelites who arrived at the promised land with Joshua, we can become a great people and a great nation; we can become more futuristic and less materialistic; we can activate spiritual awakening, much more than just being religious. As a people we can do it again and again.

If we can do away with; self-centered mentality, greedy mindset, “belle face front” politics, religion bigotry, intolerance and replace it with humanity, Steadfastness, forthrightness, courage, strength, empathy, compassion and rebuild our beloved country Nigeria, like what our hero Ta-ta Madiba’ Nelson Mandela did in South Africa after the apartheid struggle, instead of generating more bitterness, he spread love and rebuild the nation. We can do it too. With resilience and total commitment from all of us, we will triumphantly arrive at destination the promised land together.

On the flip side our beloved nation is blessed with gold, bitumen, gas, iron, copper, zink, cotton, uranium, oil and other valuable resources both in natural and human par capita. All that matters now is efficient management of our resources and diversity. We should begin to backtrack from squandering of riches and plundering of resources.

If we all change from our old ways and turn a new leaf; the verdict of posterity, the verdict of history and the judgment of God Almighty will be favorable to us as a people bond in unity. Just as the Lord God rolled away the reproach of Egypt from the Israelites, so shall He roll away the reproach of the enemies of our destinies away. NIGERIA FOR NIGERIANS MOVEMENT.
