ZAMFARA ASSEMBLY SERVES MEMBERS NOTICE TO IMPEACH DEPUTY GOV.


The Zamfara State House of Assembly, on  Wednesday served 24 members of the house with notice of impeachment, in continuation with the impeachment process against the Deputy Governor of  the state,  Alhaji Mahadi Aliyu-Gusau.
This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau by the Director General Press Affairs and Public Relations, Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura.


According to the statement, “Pursuant to section 188 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, the Speaker, Nasiru Magarya, directed the Clerk of the house, Shehu Sa’idu, to serve all members of the house the impeachment notice.


Magarya gave the directives during the assembly’s plenary in Gusau.
“The directives followed after announcement procedure contained in the house order paper of the plenary by the Speaker.


“The development now pave way for the house members to carefully study all the allegations leveled against the embattled deputy governor.
“The house is following due diligence of the law as contained in the relevant provisions of the highest document of the land that is the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended,” it  said.

In the same sitting, the two executive bills scaled first reading“The two  bills were, a bill to provide a law for the establishment of the state Library Board and other matters connected therewith 2022.


“And a bill to amend a law of the State Geographical Information System  Agency No.06, 2019.
“Each of the two bills passed first reading,” the statement said.
