Zamfara Child Protection Network gets new executives
A Civil Society Organization, Child Protection Network, Zamfara Branch has elected new executives to run the affairs of the network for the period of Three years.
The network is a platform that has membership from NGOs, CSOs and CBOs working for child protection, development and survival in the state.
The new executives emerged at the network ‘s general meeting held at IFAD Conference hall Gusau, Zamfara State.
Comrade Musa Umar (Aboki), the Executive Director, Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI) emerged as State Coordinator of the Network.
Aboki’s emergence followed the recent appointment of the outgoing State Coordinator, Comrade Bachiri S Fulani as State Senior Program Manager IFAD by Gov. Dauda Lawal.
Other executives of the network include Hajiya Maryam Muhammad to serve as Deputy Coordinator, Malam Nura Na’uku emerged as Secretary while Hajiya Hafsat Rabiu to serve as Assistant Secretary.
S Fulani who administered the oath of office to the new executives charged them to ensure dedication, transparency and accountability while running the affairs of the network.
In his acceptance speech, the new network’s Coordinator, Musa Umar (ABOKI) called for the effective implementation of the of Child Protection Law in Zamfara state
At this note, “we appreciate state government under Gov Dauda Lawal for initiating policies and programs targeting children.”
Aboki noted that the objective of the meeting was centered around membership of the network, work plan, stakeholders engagement partners through advocacies.
“We are also appealing for stakeholders’ support including the traditional, religious and community leaders to support programs for the child development in the state,” Aboki explained.

According to him, the network is going to ensure high level of advocacy and engagement to relevant stakeholders, resources mobilisation for child development activities.
“We are going to monitor government policies and programs that address the challenges being faced by the children in the state.
“Another important issue to be given priority by the network is media campaign to create awareness to the general public on child protection.
“We will collaborate with the state GVB network and other platforms towards addressing GBV against children in the state”,’Aboki added.
