MATAWALLE PLEDGES EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORY HEALTHCARE SERVICES IN ZAMFARA
Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara state has pledged his administration’s commitment to provide effective contributory healthcare services for the benefit of vulnerable groups in the state.
Matawalle made the pledge in Gusau on Thursday while declaring a one-day capacity building training open for desk officers of the state Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (ZAMCHEMA).
VMTNews reports that about 50 participants from primary, secondary and tertiary health facilities in the state were drawned for the training.
Matawalle represented by the Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Yahaya Kanoma said that the state government had provided all requirements for the agency to run effectively.

“The programme has been launched, we appointed management and recruited staff for the agency,” the governor said.
He called on the participants of the training to be honest and sincere.
“The programme is a charity aimed at helping people especially the vulnerable groups to have easy access to healthcare services.
“Therefore sincerity is clearly needed in this prograramme in order to achieve the desired objectives.
“As desk officers, you should be dedicated and honest, an always try to be polite while dealing with the enrollees.
“We are proud of this prograramme as it commenced smoothly and even the neighbouring states are copying from us,”Matawalle explained.
The Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Health, Dr Habibu Yelwa, called on the participants not disappoint the state while performing the assignment given to them.
Yelwa told the participants that their position was very vital as intermediaries between ZAMCHEMA and enrollees of the programme in the state.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Yusuf Abubakar said the training with the theme: “Role and Responsibilities of Health Facilities Desk Officers under the Contributory Healthcare Scheme”, was timely and a welcome development.
Abubakar said that the capacity building for the desk officers was necessary as part of the measures for the agency to operate effectively.
According to him vaarious resource persons from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Desk officers from the Federal Medical Center and Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospitals Gusau were invited for various lectures and presentations at the training.
